MADS KJAER OPENS POWER LUNCH AND GIVES AWAY MYC4 ACCOUNTS
Mads Kjaer is co-founder of MyC4, 'the Amazon.com of microfinance'. This inspiring social entrepreneur will kick-start the Power Lunch session. But that's not all! Mads will give away MyC4 accounts with seed money to interested Power Lunch participants. So you can start investing in a better planet right away!
The influence of crowdsourcing and mass collaboration within the arts and media is expanding globally. Yet political systems are not ready to embrace this development. Which is why we need your creative input to rethink the roles of the citizen, state, market, and media. Join the Coolpolitics Power Lunch and redesign democracy.
The Coolpolitics Power Lunch will take place during the lunch break of PICNIC Academy. The event is open to all PICNIC Conference participants and PICNIC Academy students. Limited seats available so register now.
Participants in the Coolpolitics Power Lunch will split up into small groups, focusing on different topics. Here are some examples:
Time Management in a Crowd-governed World
In a crowd-governed society people decide for themselves. But how do we organise this decision making process? Who decides on which issues? And how do we prevent people from being swamped by it all?
Swarming to Justice
Swarm theory raises high expectations: nobody needs to take the lead as people are ‘programmed’ to live and function in harmony. But how does a swarm define values, norms and laws? And if something should go wrong, who will judge who?
The Wisdom of Markets
The market economy seems to have an answer to many daily problems. It might be a useful system to look at, if we want to design the future of democracy. If we take the best aspects of the market mechanism and apply them to citizenship, what do we get?
Holland’s Next Top Politician
Internet access in the Netherlands is high, but the results on digital democratisation are (s)low. Populism is on the rise, indicating that citizens do not feel represented by politicians. What should Dutch politicians do to get back in line with modern times? Or should they leave the stage completely?
