Greg Skibiski, co-founder and CEO of Sense Networks, discusses the power of data in an interview with Carly Diaz of Streative Branding at PICNIC '09.
During the interview, Greg discusses how his company collects and analyzes large data sets -- primarily location-based information from mobile phone networks. His primary drive is to help understand and improve the way that people interact with each other, their devices and their city. He reflects upon the data rights and privacy issues that go hand-in-hand with his field, his company's "New Deal on Data" policy and concludes that all data collection should provide a true value exchange for the consumer. Finally, even though data is collected from individuals, he explains how the data analytics process offers both an anonymous and objective view of the people behind the numbers and provides the opportunity to offer new services to end-users.
