Introducing the Espresso Book Machine & AnyBook Award

ABC is the first bookstore to bring the Espresso Book Machine to continental Europe - a printing revolution that allows you to produce a book within minutes. Choose from a selection of more than 3 million titles, or print your own masterpiece!

To help celebrate their exciting acquisition, ABC wants your help creating the first-ever book printed on the Espresso Book machine. The book will be presented at PICNIC '10. Keep reading for more details about the AnyBook Award.

The Espresso Book Machine will be officially unveiled on 25 September 2010. This machine prints, covers, binds and trims any book selected from a database of over 3 million titles or any author manuscript - in library quality with a full-colour paperback cover - within a few minutes while you wait and watch.

Lynn Kaplanian, director of the ABC is very proud to introduce this groundbreaking invention to the Dutch/European market: “I have been dreaming about this moment for a long time! We are delighted to install our first Espresso Book Machine in the White Room of the ABC in Amsterdam. “

AnyBook Award competition for writing/illustration
To mark the start of this revolution, the ABC introduces the AnyBook Award, a writing/illustration competition in cooperation with PICNIC. Everyone is invited to submit original work for the first AnyBook Press title to be printed on ABC’s Espresso Book Machine. The theme of the anthology of winning submissions is Redesign the World. The book will be presented on September 24th at PICNIC to Jason Epstein, co-founder of the Espresso Book Machine company, author, publisher and co-founder of the New York Review of Books. For more details on how to participate visit www.AnyBookAward.com. Be sure to send in your submission before 1 September, 2010!
