Nicholas Negroponte

Co-founder MIT MediaLab, Founder One Laptop Per Child

Nicholas Negroponte is one of the foremost futurists of our time, best known as the co-founder of the MIT MediaLab and the founder of One Laptop per Child. He is a leading authority the impact of innovation and technology on business.

In 1992, Negroponte became involved in the creation of Wired Magazine as the first investor, and contributed to a monthly column in the magazine until 1998. Negroponte expanded many of the ideas from his Wired columns into a bestselling book Being Digital (1995), which made famous his forecasts on how the interactive world, the entertainment world and the information world would eventually merge. Being Digital was a bestseller and was translated into more than 40 languages.

Negroponte currently holds the position of Chairman Emeritus at MIT MediaLab. He also continues to be the driving force behind One Laptop per Child, a project to bring durable, affordable and innovative computers to children worldwide.
